Custom Yoka Show, US Gallery Tour!

On June 5th Genuine Artikle welcomes the Traveling Yoka Bear Show presented by DKE toys and adfunture. There will be over 150 custom Yokas displayed along with ten, 10 inch Yokas customized by some of our favorite artist in the industry, 64 colors, James Yeah?, Nerviswr3k, Jeremiah Ketner, Okkle, Oke Doki, and more!!! Along with the customs we will be showcasing Noosed Kitty the art work of Jamie Fales. She has sent us over 10 beautiful pieces along with 5 new sculpts! Makes sure to stop in for the opening reception between 8 and 11pm.

Here are the last two in the series! The larger figure’s theme is Kintaro who is seen riding a koi fish upstream with maple leaves; These scenes represent the passing of time and a boy’s journey into manhood. The smaller figure’s theme is a darker one with skulls and snakes which are often symbolic of death and the Hannya represents jealousy and anger

#5 from the MARKED MUNNY Series

Feast your eyes on #5!! Often referred to as “sailor tattoos”, in this traditional art form these designs were simple, had bold lines and vivid color. Many sailors collected tattoos as souvenirs from their travels around the world. Many of these tattoos were used as talismans to protect sailors from the woes of the sea. Today many of these designs have become stapes in the tattoo world. We owe most of these designs to the grandfather of the “traditional tattoo”, Sailor Jerry Collins from Honolulu, who left his mark on boat loads of military men.
